What is hard water?

Rainwater is naturally soft but once it has fallen it percolates through the soil and rocks and that which falls on chalk and limestone, dissolves and collects hardness minerals. When the rain falls on hard rocks such as granite, it remains naturally soft. The hardness of your water is therefore dependent on where you live.

What can I do about hard water

An automatic ion exchange water softener will remove the hardness from your water.

What are the benefits of softened water?

Softened water saves time - independent studies have shown that considerable cleaning time is saved by using softened water. It can also save some 50% of washing powder and toilet soap consumption and similarly cut the use of shampoos, conditioners and cleaning products.

Softened water makes washing the car easier and will reduce streaking and spotting. Water softeners are installed in nearly all commercial laundries, kitchens and car washes in hard water areas.

Mistral cabinets are manufactured in grey with a tough plastic finish for strength and robustness. With contrasting salt lid, they look good whether installed free-standing or under the sink. A range of sizes are available. With the accent on typical UK under the sink installations, vessel volumes from 4 to 24 litres can be accommodated within a maximum height of 822mm including valve. Using the proven Autotrol valves on both the Mistral and Euro J models, we have a range of sizes available in either timeclock or meter controlled versions, all with a 5 year warranty. Customers are advised that:
  • All models are fully assembled. They are supplied as standard with the new 3/4 inch male connection manifold. However, Installation Kits are "Optional Extras"
  • Granular or Tablet salt is suitable for all models
  • Cabinet hoods (as shown on the images) are included with the Euro J range, however, with the Mistral Range they are "Optional Extras"
  • The Hood is not required for under-sink/ under worktop installations, a flat salt lid is issued as standard, however, the hood may help to protect the valve from the frost or just improve the looks when the unit is installed in other locations
